Song Meter SM4TS from Wildlife Acoustics

The SM4TS is a modified Song Meter SM4 that adds a weatherproof GPS connector on the side of the recorder and a cabled weatherproof GPS receiver. When the GPS receiver is connected to the SM4TS, the recorder’s clock is synchronized with the GPS time base to within 1 millisecond.

Recordings made while an SM4TS is connected to the GPS receiver are time stamped with 1 millisecond precision allowing localization calculations of wildlife signals from multiple SM4TS recorders. The start times are synchronized to start on the second as indicated in the filename, and the sample rate is fine-tuned over the duration of the recording to keep the recordings synchronized to the GPS time base.
